CLFA members composed this year’s list of the top ten books published in 2017, then we opened the final round of voting to the public. And now, at last, the voting is closed and the tallies are in! Without further ado, we present the winner of the CLFA Book of the Year 2018 contest:
FIRST PLACE
For Steam and Country: Book One of the Adventures of Baron Von Monocle
by Jon Del Arroz
No one works harder nor participates more in the culture war that automatically goes along with being a conservative author in today’s SJW-dominated SFF circles than Jon Del Arroz. Even so, he still had time to produce this outstanding and wildly popular piece of fiction. Congratulations, JDA!
SECOND PLACE
The Last Closet: The Dark Side of Avalon
By Moira Greyland
Oh, how we wish the second place winner were also fiction! But it’s not, yet somehow Moira Greyland found the remarkable courage to tell her story of heartbreaking abuse at the hands of her parents, one of whom was the most celebrated feminist SFF author of her day.
THIRD PLACE
A Fistful of Credits: Stories from the Four Horsemen Universe (The Revelations Cycle Book 5)
Edited by Chris Kennedy and Mark Wandrey
Congratulations to these two for pulling together a veritable smorgasbord of the hottest SFF authors working today. 14 great stories in one volume!
CLFA is thrilled to congratulate this year’s winners. Take a bow, authors! Thank you for your contributions to contemporary literature. Best wishes from all of us in the CLFA!
